Rumour: James Hogg's Screenplay "The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner " in Rob’s Hands?

You know we normally don’t like to tease, but it’s possible that this is either true or that Peter McDougall knows how to get attention to his screenplay by mentioning the name we want to hear “Robert Pattinson”. Anyway, the movie sounds great so I hope Rob is on board. If he’s not - well there’s bound to be something on the horizon soon - very very soon.

In an interview with the Herald Scotland, playwright, Peter McDougall states that he’s written a screenplay for the James Hogg novel “The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner” and that Rob currently has a copy of it.  The article says:

“McDougall has written a screenplay of James Hogg’s Confessions of a Justified Sinner. “I’ve got Tommy Gormley, who’s directing in America now, (Star Trek, Independence Day) and people such as Patrick Doyle agreeing to do the music, and Connolly and Coltrane have agreed to put their names to it. It’s currently with Twilight star Robert Pattinson, and Kelly MacDonald, who are looking at it. If Pattinson agrees it should go ahead.”

If you want to read the full McDougall article, then click on the link.  In the meantime, here’s the plot summary for then ovel from Amazon:

“One of the supreme masterpieces of Romantic fiction and Scottish literature, The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner is a terrifying tale of murder and amorality, and of one man’s descent into madness and despair. James Hogg’s sardonic novel follows a young man who, falling under the spell of a mysterious stranger who bears an uncanny likeness to himself, embarks on a career as a serial murderer. The memoirs are presented by a narrator whose attempts to explain the story only succeed in intensifying its more baffling and bizarre aspects. Is the young man the victim of a psychotic delusion, or has he been tempted by the devil to wage war against God’s enemies? The authoritative and lively introduction by Ian Duncan covers the full range of historical and religious themes and contexts, offers a richer and more accurate consideration of the novel’s relation to Romantic fiction than found elsewhere, and sheds new light on the novel’s treatment of fanaticism. Copious notes identify the novel’s historical, biblical, theological, and literary allusions.”

*NEW* Translation of a Dutch Interview of Rob.

Some of these questiosn are new!Really cute:)
Translation
I did not like the way new moon was hyped!

As vampire Edward Cullen, Robert Pattinson did not only conquer the heart of his movie-romance Bella Swan. We had a private conversation with the 24-year-old actor.

You are currently the most exciting and popular boy in the world!
I try to somehow to deal with, but I can’t. You become a little paranoid, but to be honest it’s fantastic. I now have the opportunity to make the movies that I want to make.

There’s a lot of pressure resting on your shoulders now, there are even dolls and unauthorized biographies of you…
That’s right. Because of the Twilight saga I’m always in the media. They constantly ask me if I am not afraid that I’ll be ‘type-casted’. But I’m not afraid at all. Actually, it’s all about money. That’s how you will be ‘graded’. And if that fails, or if you want to do something else, like playing small roles in smaller films, you will be ignored and forgotten. There is apparently only one or the other extreme.

You could simply play smaller roles …
Yes, I could. But I might not be in front of a camera for ten years because I can’t find good roles. If you’re offered a role in an independent film, one you really want to play, there’s a chance that this movie will never be made because of financial reasons. And that’s too bad!

What review would hurt you most? Were you satisfied with the latest movie Twilight, New Moon?
Nothing special would hurt me. I did not like the way New Moon was hyped. It was not about the movie, but about the brand. Chris Weitz is a fabulous director, I liked the film very much. That’s why I didn’t like that. I’ve been very lucky that I could play in this film.

What is the strangest you’ve ever read about yourself?
I remember reading somewhere that I was pregnant. It was a story in a magazine. I think it was even on the front page.

If you would have 24 hours where no one recognize you, what would you do?
Nothing. When I was in London recently, I could do normal things, no one recognized me.

Maybe because you had a beard?
Probably.

Why did you have a beard?
I wanted to go to an audition, without everyone instantly recognizing me.

Do you have a fashion-sense and do you have a favorite designer?
I love Marc Jacobs. Actually I wear something from him at every premiere. I believe that those are the only suits that actually fit me and look good on me. I also like cool and comfortable clothes. Preferably second-hand. I go to second-hand stores to buy new clothes. Funny, huh?

How did all the fame change your life?
Outside the United States it’s almost nonexistent. But if I’m in the U.S., I can barely move freely. Every step is watched closely by magazines and commented and there are paparazzi everywhere. I can’t even use the regular door when I go to a pub or restaurant.

What do you do when you’re in London?
I’ve hardly been there in the last three years. I used to live in Soho. Much has changed. It seems they have closed all the places I liked at once — the shops, restaurants and cafes …

Is it true that you were afraid of your fans when you were in Italy filming scenes for New Moon?
I wasn’t scared, the entire city was taken over by Twilight fans and I had to take my shirt off during filming. That made me insecure and it was painful! After all, everyone was watching.

Are there any actors you admire?
I admire Joaquin Phoenix and Ryan Gosling

Has it become easier for you to get to know girls, now that you’re famous?
Although I became more self-confident and famous, it’s not easier! On the one hand, I am afraid to succeed with a girl on the other hand, I am afraid to get rejected. It’s crazy really.

You used to make music…
Yes, I performed three to four times a week live before Twilight! Unfortunately I have no time for that anymore.

Do you use the Internet?
I love YouTube! I’m addicted to it!

Harper’s Bazaar Issue Featuring Rob & Kristen Wins Cover Of The Year

HARPER’S BAZAAR’S TWILIGHT COVER NAMED BEST MAGAZINE COVER OF THE YEAR IN ASME’S BEST COVER CONTEST, HOSTED BY AMAZON.COM
CHICAGO, October 4, 2010 — The cover of the December 2009 issue of Harper’s Bazaar, featuring the lead actors of the hit movie franchise Twilight, was chosen by Amazon.com customers as “Cover of the Year.” This is the second year that Amazon.com has hosted the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) Best Cover Contest, and the fifth year that ASME has presented the awards. The announcement was made today by Larry Hackett, ASME president and managing editor, People, at the American Magazine Conference currently underway in Chicago, Ill.

Twelve category winners, chosen by Amazon.com customers during the first round of public voting, competed for the “Cover of the Year” honor. The Harper’s Bazaar cover, which won the “Best Vampire” category before it was chosen “Cover of the Year,” depicts Twilight stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in a rare shot together. While the epic image played on the idea of courtship, it was given extra heat due to their real-life romance.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s advice to Rob

You have struggled for years to get rid of the reputation of teen idol. Do you have any suggestion for Robert Pattinson? The Twilightmania seems similar to the Titanic one…

RPattz (he pronounces it just like this, like his fans do) just has to keep on working hard. An actor must always be thankful when proposals come, it’s like winning the lottery every time. You must maintain the result, of course, but you must also seize opportunities to grow. But Robert already knows these things.

Sara Gruen, author of Water For Elephants, chatted with a fan about Rob:“AND ROB READS!”

People have been asking me to post about my chatting with Sara Gruen recently at a book signing for “Ape House”, so here it is!

I bought four copies of “Ape House” at the signing, two for “Rob Pattinson fan” friends I’ve made this year. When I approached the table and showed my stack of four, Ms. Gruen very dramatically said with arms outstretched and a broad smile– “I LOVE you!” As she graciously personalized each copy with a name, I asked her if there was any striking thing she noted on the film set– seeing a story on the page being brought to life on screen. She said, “Yes, that they film everything out of order! If I wasn’t the author, I wouldn’t know what the story was!”

Then she went off on a bit of a tangent, with this air of admiration, “Now with Rob on the movie”….. and then she related that he is just a really nice guy, it’s amazing, and he’s so down to earth. I said that Rob Pattinson has many fans, and some came to this book from that place, and that we hear time and again in our online fan site chatter about how nice he is. She said, yes, he’s just so grounded, and she doesn’t know how he handles everything.

And then just when I thought she was done, she said with excitement, “AND ROB READS!” I said his fans know, and we think it’s great and people actually seek out the books he talks about. I know many fans wish he had a reading list we could follow!

“Water for Elephants” info coming from France!

We didn’t know which company would distribute the film in France and now we know it’s 20th Century Fox. During the “Congrès des Exploitants” ( a conference during which distributors come to show exhibitors some extracts of their upcoming films) , they apparently show the very first images of Water for Elephants. We don’t know exactly what it was and even if it’s just rush or images from a first version of the film.

Translation of the article:
 Congrès des Exploitants 2010

The winner from 2009 , 20th Century Fox, started and gathered blockbusters for 2011 such as Narnia 3 to be released in December , Gulliver 3D with Jack Black or Rio,the future successful cartoon in 3D from the creator of the Ice Age which baffled and stressed the rivals ! There were also the very first images of Water For Elephant by Francis Lawrence (Constantine, I am Legend) and also from FA by Black Swan

Translation:

0:00-0:18 “Robert Pattinson was very nice. You expect actors ,that have reached such a high level of fame, to make lots of demands and be a little whiney. On the contrary, both Robert and Kristen, and the other actors as well, seemed to be very normal people.”

0:19-0:38 ” He( Robert) spent a lot of time alone in the lobby of the Palazzo Comunale, outside the office block, so he occasionally would bump into municipal employees.”

0:28-0:37 “The only request he made was not to be disturbed, because he, more than anyone else, needed to focus for the scene he was about to shoot”.

0:38-0:52 “He has a lot of appeal, and part of it may stem from the character he portrays. Obviously, when he took his shirt off, a cry rose from thousand of people that were gathered in Piazza Grande.”

1:02-1:14 “ They yell “cut”, I turn and here he is: this naked god! And he bursts out laughing! Imagine Robert Pattinson laughing right there in front of you! I was literally trembling!”

1:31-2:37 “ Welcome to Villa S.Bruno, in Montepulciano, where the cast stayed during the shooting of New Moon in May.

Robert is also a musician. He had his guitar with him and in the evenings they would gather in the garden where Robert played some music. I asked him where he lived and he told me that his house was his luggage. Outside the gates there were hundred of fans ,but nothing dangerous happened. One parent took a picture of Robert, who was taking some rest in the hammock, from the swimming pool.”

Christina Ricci describes her experience with Rob's fans

Ricci has shared screen time with Hollywood heartthrobs her entire life—Depp (on three separate occasions), Justin Timberlake, and Orlando Bloom—but the collective scream reached fever pitch earlier this year when she filmed Bel Ami, an adaptation of Guy de Maupassant’s story of corruption and social climbing, with Twilight superstar Robert Pattinson. Featuring a stacked deck of formidable actors, including Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas, Bel Ami tells the story of George Duroy, a scheming, power-hungry womanizer brought to life by Pattinson. Ricci plays Clotilde de Marelle, one of Duroy’s many conquests. “I read the book when I was 13,” she says. “It was one of my tutor’s favorite stories, so there was a lot of discussion about it my entire life. Getting the part was one of those things that made me sort of believe in…” Realizing she’s stumbled dangerously close to earnest territory, she cuts herself short, and then, with a slight eye roll, says, “Well, fate. But, yeah, Rob’s fans are crazy. We filmed in London, and they were always around base camp, gathered at the barriers.”

"BEL AMI":answers to 3 main questions

Been trying to pass this info update on all morning but due to Twitter fail I am resorting to a post, its not really what we want to hear, as all we want as supporters of Bel Ami is a release date, we will pass on any information we get as it comes in.

Yesterday we posted the update from @NordicNina around the info from the Swedish distributor, we went back to Protagonist to confirm the deets around the three main question areas and this is what they had to say:

1 – Has Bel Ami gained distributors yet for the 3 remaining areas?  ~ “NOT YET”

2 - We have heard from a Swedish source that Bel Ami is likely to view
at either the Berlin or Cannes film festivals next year and if that is
the case will release be delayed until after both these events?
~ “YES”

3 – Are there any plans to release any more promotional material in
the near future?
~ “NO”
