Robert Pattinson almost missed out on landing the starring role in new movie Remember Me, as the director believes it didn’t show off his acting skills.
Robert Pattinson has won a legion of fans for his portrayal of Edward Cullen in the Twilight movies, but not Remember me director Allen Coulter, who says he probably wouldn’t have given him the role because the vampire blockbusters don’t stretch him as an actor.
Coulter said: “If I had seen Twilight, I might not have hired him. He is so limited by the kinds of traits he has to express. It’s not that psychologically complex.”
However, Coulter is pleased he took a chance on Rob in the New York-based drama because it gives the young actor the chance to showcase his acting skills.
He said: “He shows his playful side.”
Although Coulter thinks the Twilight movies will not help Rob develop his screen skills he is hopeful his popularity will make the film a success.
He added: “I hope the rabid interest in Rob as a personality helps the box office. It would be foolish to say otherwise.”
