Popular British actor, Robert Pattinson, stars in the film adaptation of the French novel, Bel-Ami, currently finishing up production in Europe. Meanwhile, members of the Classics Book Club at Barnes and Noble.com will be discussing the novel, written by Guy de Maupassant, in May.

Bel-Ami is about a young, ambitious journalist, Georges Duroy, who attempts to climb the career and social ladder through seducing successful and influential women. It is set in nineteenth-century Paris.
Mr. Pattinson plays Georges Duroy in the film adaptation. Christina Ricci plays Clotilde de Marelle; Uma Thurman plays Madeleine Forestier; and Kristin Scott Thomas plays Virginie Rousset. The movie is directed by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod from a screenplay adapted by Rachel Bennette.
